This is the experience
- The tour begins between 3 am and 3.30 am with the pick up from the tourist’s hotel. Then, aboard a tourist transport, travel through the Andean landscapes of Arequipa towards the town of Chivay (3 hours 30 minutes on the road). It’s time to have breakfast there. Then we appreciate the Colca canyon from the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint (flight of the condor) . Also from the Antahuilque and Wayrapunku viewpoints. Then it’s time to relax in the thermal baths of Maca. Lunch will be a buffet in the town of Chivay. Finally it is time to return to Arequipa observing Peruvian auquénidos. The tour ends in the center of Arequipa at approximately 5 pm.

Itinerary
- The tour begins with the pick up of the tourist at the door of his hotel in the city of Arequipa between 3 am and 3.30 am. Pickup is available from hotels located in the city center (most tourist hotels are there). Otherwise, a central point of the city is chosen for the pick up.
- On board our large tourist transport we will take the road that leads to the Andean landscapes of Arequipa (by the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve).
- After a trip of 3 hours 30 minutes we will arrive at the famous town of Chivay. There we will descend to make last minute purchases and enjoy a continental breakfast at a local restaurant: coffee, juices, breads, jam, yogurt, scrambled eggs, cereals, fruits and more.
- After breakfast, the tourist transport will take us to the Colca Canyon. There, after presenting our entrance ticket, we will appreciate the famous flight of the condor, from the viewpoint of the Cruz del Cóndor.
- In addition to this point we will also be able to appreciate the beautiful Colca canyon (one of the deepest on the planet with 4,160 meters) from the Antahuilque and Wayrapunku viewpoints.
- After enjoying the famous Colca canyon (spectacular photos) we will return to the town of Maca. There we will visit the thermal baths of Chacapi (recommended to bring a bathing suit and towels).
- Before leaving for Arequipa we will enjoy a buffet lunch in the town of Chivay. Lunch includes hot soups, salads, stews, meats, stews, rice, pasta, desserts, hot drinks and more.
- At around 2 pm we will return to Arequipa by tourist transport. On the route we will be able to appreciate the famous Andean camelids such as llamas, alpacas and even vicuñas.

The city of Arequipa is located at 2,335 meters above sea level. The Colca Canyon is at 3,800 meters of altitude. At that altitude you can feel some natural symptoms such as fatigue, nausea or headache. However, these are mild and go away on their own within a few hours or days. In any case, to avoid acute symptoms, it is recommended to drink plenty of hot water such as coca tea. There are also pills against altitude sickness or ‘soroche’.
